This forthcoming weekend, Saturday 28th June, sees one of the major family history shows in the North of England, the Yorkshire Family History Fair. It is one of the largest family history shows in the UK , now in its 19th year and there are over 70 exhibitors expected on three floors.
There is plenty of parking, refreshments are available all day and lifts to take visitors to all three floors. The fair is open from 10am to 4.30pm and features a number of free talks including Mark Bayley from TheGenealogist.
If you've not been before, the fair is at The Knavesmire Exhibition Centre, The Racecourse, York YO23 1EX. Admission is £4.50 for adults and children under 14 have free admission.

In a flash the major family history show of 2014 has been and gone. Who Do You Think You Are? Live 2014 at London Olympia (and its new opening days of Thursday to Saturday) seemed to generate a healthy number of visitors. Attendees were steady although it was felt not exceeding the levels of previous years.
However, there was a healthy number of exhibitors and as expected a focus on the commemorations of the start of The Great War, with the Imperial War Museum present. All the usual main family history websites were present in what was as ever, a very enjoyable family history exhibition. The first family history fair of the New Year is shortly upon us. The popular Bracknell Family History Fair is on Sunday 26th January at Bracknell Sport & Leisure Centre. Admission is £3 and doors open from 10am to 5pm. There is free parking available and a cafeteria for drinks and snacks.
The Bracknell Family History Fair has been voted Number 3 in the country by Your Family Tree Magazine and is widely regarded as a family history fair well worth attending. This year, the Society of Genealogists will be attending, there'll also be a military history advice desk, specialist groups and a number of family history societies present. S&N Genealogy Supplies and TheGenealogist will also be present, providing talks on family history research.

The popular Bracknell Family History Fair returns on Sunday 26th January
If you live in or are visiting the South Devon area, you may want to take advantage of a free local family history event In Newton Abbot, Devon this weekend. It's a 2 day event, starting today and continues on Saturday 16th November from 9am to 3.30pm.
It's run by the South Devon Family History Club, along with Devon Family History Society, and is the sixth Family History Weekend they have organised.
The event will be held at the Passmore Edwards Centre in Newton Abbot.
It should be of interest to family historians of all levels. There will be researchers on hand to help with all those frustrating genealogy queries we all come across!
This Saturday, the 26th October, (in what promises to be a busy weekend for family history fairs) sees the West Surrey Family History Society Open Day in Woking. After a popular fair last year, it promises to be a good one again this year.
Open from 10am to 4pm, there's a number of family history societies, suppliers and specialist help desks available. With a number of 'taster talks' on offer including looking at the information you can find from a photograph, local war memorials and the topic of DNA in family history, there's a talk of interest for everyone!There's also free parking available. Tomorrow (Saturday 14th September) sees the North West Group of Family History Societies and Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society (who are proudly celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2013) presenting their Family History Day Fair in Blackburn, entitled "From Cradle to Grave".
It's at King George's Hall, Northgate, Blackburn from 10am to 4pm and entry is £3.00. There's some great speakers lined up including Mark Bayley from TheGenealogist, Ian Hartas talking about BMDs on the Internet and Dr Brenda Hustler is exploring Irish ancestry. The South West Area Group of Family History Societies will be holding their bi-ennial fair at the Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 13th July 2013.
The event will be open from 10.00am until 4.00pm and the venue details are:

Entrance fee is £2.50 and there is pay and display car parking nearby.
The fair promises to be another good event for family historians. There will be a number of family history societies present and suppliers of family history products and services and there will be some useful talks including Mark Bayley, Head of Online Content at TheGenealogist who will present his very popular talk on 'Breaking down brick walls'.
This Saturday (29th June) sees the start of the Yorkshire Family History Fair at The Knavesmire Exhibition Centre, York Racecourse. It's on from 10.00-4.30pm. With over 100 exhibitors expected from all over the UK and Ireland, this is probably the largest local event of its kind in England.
Many family history societies, and family history websites such as TheGenealogist will be there as well as other family history suppliers. Lots of local history from the York area too.
