This Saturday (12th October) sees the annual Glamorgan Family History Society Fair. It promises to be another popular fair held in South Wales at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, Merthyr Tydfil from 10am to 4pm.

Latest news from 'Unlock the Past' cruises is the announcement of the family history speakers that will provide the talks on board the cruise around the British Isles.
On board the Marco Polo cruise ship will be a selection of experts including Paul Blake, Jackie Depelle, Marie Dougan, Jayne Shrimpton, Lisa Louise Cooke, Rosemary Kopittle, Mike Murray, Lesley Silvester and Helen Smith. The initial itinerary is for there to be about 40 topics discussed in 25 sessions. More details will no doubt be announced closer to the event in July next year.

The National Archives has just announced a new range of online resources for teachers and students for the new school year to further develop an interest and knowledge of the past. There are five new collections of digitised documents and images now available including 'Life on board convict prison ships' and 'attitudes to crime and punishment' as well as looking at pictures, news and documents to explore 'life in Victorian Britain'.

The National Archives have recently announced their new website is now live and fully operational. With a significant change in design, according to their publicity, The National Archives have styled their new website to cater for the increase in visitors accessing their site from mobile devices. 20% of their visitor traffic in particular is now using the website from mobile devices.
The National Archives official statement is "The new design represents a shift in our thinking and a shift in the changing needs of our audience."
Latest news from 'Unlock the Past' Cruises is that they are now taking bookings for their new cruise holiday- 'British Isles Discovery' in July next year.

The Oxfordshire Family History Society 2013 Open Day is this forthcoming Saturday, 5th October and is to be held at The Marlborough School just outside Woodstock.
The Open Day will feature an assortment of visiting Family History Societies, publishers, dealers in second hand books and postcards, and more.
Opening times are 10am to 4pm and there is ample car parking available. Admission to the Open Day is free, as is the on-site car park.
